In Memoriam

Vicki Gregory

(1968-2019)

With deep sadness we announce the loss of Vicki Gregory, a member of our scientific family and dear friend. Vicki was a founding member of GISAID’s Database Technical Group playing a key role in providing scientific guidance for the development of GISAID’s EpiFlu database.

As a long-serving, stalwart of the World Influenza Centre (WIC), the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza in London, Vicki was held in high regard by colleagues around the world for her contribution to influenza surveillance and research. With her wealth of knowledge and experience, her enthusiasm and willingness to help, notably during Bird Flu emergencies, she actively collaborated with colleagues in many of the laboratories of the Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS) and of the animal influenza network, OFFLU, forming many lasting friendships.

Vicki was an enthusiastic and loyal supporter of the Hornets, Watford Football Club. A wonderful mother, wife, daughter and friend to many, Vicki inspired us all. We will miss her dearly and send heartfelt sympathy to her family.
